RGB Codes for Distress Oxide Inks!

Good morning!
I searched the internet, like I usually do for a new idea I had, that I was sure someone else had thought of first! Low and behold, I could not find it! Let me explain.

I came across Shari Carroll's Distress ink combo sheets that she created for Simon Says Stamp blog. I had miniaturized them, and printed them out a while back. I taped this sheet on my craft wall above my distress inks, and refer to it often. Then I came across Justine's blog where she has some AWESOME distress OXIDE combos that I had to try, so I wrote them down on my combo sheet. Then realized, I wanted to record them as Shari had with the little watercolor circles and the name next to it.

SO.....needless to say, I wanted to add one to Shari's idea, to include all the oxide inks, and then make a combo sheet of my own of my favorite combinations! I wanted to share it with you!

First, I needed all the RBG codes for all the distress Oxide inks. I searched all over the ranger site, but to no avail. Then I searched blogs, and pinterest, and found one hit, but it wasn't quite right. Then I thought, if ranger already chose the colors in their swatches, (which I had in my files) then I can use the eye dropper tool in inkscape, and get the codes myself. With a little elbow grease, and a bunch of patience, I could make them!

I wanted to make the swatches in word so that I could copy and paste them as I needed to make new combos on a separate combo sheet. Take a look:

What's Within Reach?

Hello again!
I wanted to share with you some pictures of my craft space, but I don't like the videos crafters/bloggers post showing the inside of each drawer and every cupboard. I do not find those interesting or informative. They come across as bragging about their crafting supplies, and how much they have.

I tried to come up with a way to show the items I find helpful to have within reach of where I sit at my desk. Which tools and items to I go to the MOST! Those are the posts I think are interesting. I thought I would share my ideas.

Mind you, I am a very frugal crafter surviving on a teacher's budget. I buy ONLY what I need and I use everything, or I don't keep it around. I have been card making for 5 years, and I have been blogging on and off for only 3.

Several of these items I have created by hand, and I have posts on my blog showing you in detail how you can create one also. I will link to those if you are interested. Leave a comment, I would love to hear your thoughts! I believe you can click each picture to zoom in.

StampFest at the Bay 2015

Hello everyone, welcome back,

     I just returned from Stampfest at the Bay here in Clearwater. It is a small, quaint stamp and scrapbooking expo held in a Greek church once a year. Each year I enjoy strolling in all the different vendor booths and coming home with some new toys. 

This year, I really wanted to invest in a few new ink colors. I was growing bored with my limited amount of colors and wanted to branch out. Just as I was about to leave, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a stand on the floor in one of the booths that read: " 50% off ". Low and behold it was an entire display of Hero Arts shadow and mid-tone inks! They were listed at $6.50 each, so 50% off was $3.25 each. You guessed it, I bought every color I could find. I found 8 colors I could not live without.

I am so pleased with myself. This is such a treat! I also found some pre cut cardstock layering papers, and some clear card gift cases I have been searching for. Other than that, I was not impressed with many of the stamp companies lines of stamps. I think I am just too spoiled with simon says stamp stamps!

No matter, I have a scrapbooking expo coming to Orlando next month. I need to save up for that, and see if I can find any great deals there too. Thanks for stopping by.

New Stamp Tip: This is going to make you CRINGE!! (but it works!)

     Have you ever bought a clear stamp, only to find that the image is grainy and not as you expected? I have seen so many ideas on how to fix this.....but not mine! It works everytime, I know, the thought of doing it this way is going to make you cringe, but trust me, no harm will come to your stamps!

     STEP ONE:  For example, I have a penny black set, allegro with a few unused stamps in it. I am using memento ink black, it is my must have basic black ink. I took the flower stamp from the set.

This is the grainy type image you get on that very first stamp with a clear stamp. If you are a avid stamper, you know what I am talking about. It bugs me everytime I buy a clear set of new stamps.

STEP TWO: Be prepared to cringe: Take a piece of sandpaper, or I have found a VERY fine nail file sponge to work as well. Rub it vigorously across the surface of your stamp until a light white film is visible. Yes, that is a light layer of your stamp coming off. But it removes the slippery layer on the surface of the stamp too. IT DOES NOT EFFECT the image.
                      
STEP THREE: Very important, clean off the surface of your stamp. Remove the "sand" you have removed from the stamp. Clean it well. Then stamp again. Take a look:

Here is another example: Again it is an unused stamp from Penny Black's Allegro set. I have not used it once. I stamped it with tuxedo black as is. The image is grainy and light.

 I sanded it with my yellow nail file, cleaned the stamp, and stamped it again with the same ink. See the difference? AMAZING! It still makes me cringe to know I am sanding my poor stamp, but I assure the image is not affected. This works on red rubber stamps as well.

I wanted to share my two cents. I have no idea where I got the idea of sanding my new stamps, but it is better than some of the other crazy tips I have read on the internet to work with new stamps. Try this and leave a comment on what you think! It would make my day!  See you soon.

Card Challenge: CAS(E)

Happy Saturday!

I enjoyed this challenge. I got the chance to use a stampin' up! set that I haven't used since Valentines day. I took this sketch pretty literally. I used Real Red and Bermuda Bay together on glossy cardstock. Take a look.

It's been a very laid back, yet productive day. I am finishing up two card making organization projects that I am anxious to share with you as soon as they're finished. I completed the first, and hit a snag with the second. Maybe by next weekend.

Scrapbook/Paper Crafting Expo in Orlando!

Hello Friends,
I just arrived back home from enjoying myself at the paper crafting expo at Gaylord Palms in Orlando, FL (about 1.5 hrs trip one way for me). The convention center/hotel was amazing! I wandered around for a bit before heading home. Here are some pictures I took:

I bought this stamp....I love it! This was a sample they had. I think I have butterflies I can use.

I bought a handful of items that I really HAD to have. I am sure you will be seeing my spoils featured here very soon. I saw other customers with bags and bags of items. They even had a BAG CHECK-IN location. (gross or what?) I thought stampers had hoarding tendencies, but now I am convinced that scrapbookers might just be ... worse. :)

It was $20 for entry and parking. Including this, I spent just less than a hundred dollars. I'm proud of myself because, I EASILY could have doubled that.  :) But alas, I think there is another convention coming in June, gotta save some money for that one. Enjoy!

Frames Too...

Here is a quick frame that I altered. Although it is simple, it is very touching. It leaves room for more creativity! These Ikea frames are inexpensive, and a breeze to work with. I picked up the picture holder from Ross inexpensively too. Being on a limited budget, you become resourceful!
