Featured Duo: Experimenting with embossing powders!

Hello,
I was cleaning up my craft room last weekend, and took a good-hard look at all the embossing powders I have collected over the years, and realized I need to play with them on my next duo!

This card uses just white embossing powder on it. I used two distress inks on the background.

On this card, I used a shimmery embossing powder on the background. I was not sure if it would endure my blending pf ink on top of it, but to my surprise it did! I know the picture did not come out the best, but you can see the glittery embossing.
Here is a picture of the duo together. Enjoy!

Let the heat come!

Hello all,

It is a toasty 85 degrees outside, but it feels like 90. I was sweating just grabbing the mail at the end of the driveway!

I created two totally different cards today. I had intended to participate in a few challenges, but I couldn't get the creative juices flowing with the sketches that were offered this week, so I made my own.

You can't see the embossed lines that jut out from each corner of the the background. They sort of interrupt the butterfly, but I like the overall look.

Supplies: Stamps: (Background stamp) Happiness: Local King Rubber Stamps, (Butterfly) simple friendship SU!, (Dream) Dreams comes true CTMH. Inks: Distress inks, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, Tuxedo Black Paper:  Neenah Cardstock. Others: Low Tack masking tape.

This card was fun. I like the black base, and the pop of the purples. I used left over watercolor paper I had from a different project. I colored the background with perfect plum yesterday and gave it a day to dry. The Think paper never warps. (LOVE that!)

I learned how to get the reflection on the bottom of the card. I used a pack of paper wrapped in a clear bag. The bag provides the refection. (cool, huh?) So easy, but it looks great in the photo. I still need to learn how to watermark my photos. Enjoy!

Supplies: Stamps:(flowers) Wildflower Garden - Hero Arts, Believe - Inkadinkado, Ink/Paper - Perfect Plum - SU! Tuxedo Black. Paper:  Neenah Cardstock.

Featured Technique: Blending with Masking Card Set

I am beginning to think I have a hidden "clean and simple" style yet...I really love the simplicity of this set. The colors just pop. I chose flowers from three different sets with different sentiments. The bluebells are from Local King Stamps (Chicks), the set of 2 flowers is from Penny Black (Allegro) and the dandelion set is from Hero Arts (Wildflower Garden). This is going to make such a great gift. Enjoy!

Featured Stamp & die: Butterfly by Local King

My friend and I got together and borrowed each others new stamps that we purchased at the convention. I was immediately drawn to this cute butterfly with matching die from Local King Stamp.

I have been trying a clean and simple approach to my card making lately. I have been suffering from a slight case of creative block. I love the cards I saw from this site. That I have been trying to leave more "white space" in my cards. It is NOT an easy thing to do!  :) lol. Enjoy!

Featured Stamp: Happiness by Local King

Like I mentioned before, I have been going CRAZY with my card making during this holiday break. I am in love with this company also. They are actually Canadian, I believe. This beautiful background stamp is from Local King Rubber Stamp. If you go to there site, they will only show you their catalog.(bummer...but it gives to TONS of pictures of their beautiful wildlife stamps that you simply cannot find anywhere else.

Featured Stamp: Rose by Local King Rubber Stamp

This company is very quickly becoming my favorite small line of stamps. I can never pass by their booth without falling in love with a dozen stamps. The cool thing about their line, is most of the more complicated images come with a matching die. The technique they feature at the table is to use water based markers as randomly and as messily (is that a word?) as you can, and the images come out amazingly! Here is my duo for you to enjoy!

Duo on the left features the Rose stamp and its matching die by Local King Rubber stamp. I used Stampin up! paper with tumbled glass distress ink by ranger. The over was sponged with a mini ink pad that I have had for years. I am not sure if versacolor makes the heliotrope color anymore. I used the en francais and perfect words (hostess) sets. I added blue rhinestone and a touch of blue fiber for the tag.

Duo on the right uses the Rose stamp as its focus. The purple beneath it is another mini pad I had from Ancient page dye (foxglove) with another  Local King Rubber  background stamp called Happiness. I popped the background using an embossing folder, but before I ran it through my cuttlebug, I inked the negative side with some tumbled glass distress ink. and touched the edges up with black. (don't see the small smear...opps) I am still learning!  :)

Enjoy, and see you soon!
