Blue Birthday - Watercolor card

Hello again,
I am back with another card to share with you. It has been an exhausting week of teaching. I was observed this week by my principal, and I was a little nervous. I think everything went well. I will be meeting with my principal to talk about the lesson and see what he thought and how I can improve.
Meanwhile, I am busy de-stressing in my craft room! Take a look!

I usually use my wildflower die cuts with black card stock. This time, I blended with blue distress ink, and splattered it with water, and then used it for my die cuts. It love the look! It pulls all the blues together!

I entered it into a few challenges!

I would love a new follower, and comments make me smile all day! Please leave me some love!  :)

Thinking of you card and GDT entry!

Hello all,
I am so excited about this card. It came out just the way I envisioned it. I am pleased with myself that I can keep crafting while I am teaching. I really don't know what has changed, but I love that I can create while I teach full time! Anyway, on to my card for today!

I know my photo skills are in need of improvement, but you cannot see the glitter embossing very well. It is beautiful in real life.

I entered this card in a few challenges

I am also excited to apply for a guest designer position. I would love a chance to shine, and see how I create under pressure. Wish me luck! More to come!

Large Oxide and Rose

Welcome back!
I LOVE my new, and improved crafting space. So, I wanted to join more challenges tonight! Take a look at my card:

I have not used this "oldie but goodie" stamp & die set I purchased many, many years ago. With the new oxide inks begging to be used, I thought they may make a wonderful pair! I also used my new glitter paper and a new happy birthday stamp. What fun!

I entered this card in a few challenges

I am SO looking forward to seeing the new 12 oxide colors being released from Tim Holtz this weekend at the convention. More FUN!

New Twofer Card Challenge

Hello again,
I am so tickled that a challenge blog arrived after my own heart! Click here to go check it out.

Twofer Challenge

My site (originally) was about two cards from the same stamp. My first few years I was very consistent and stayed true. This challenge uses the same idea. How could I not play? So excited...

Feathers? I don't have any feathers, but I do have a cute bird! Take a look:

Aren't they sweet? I am not sure if he is sweating or crying over the candle, or another birdday! LOL Either way, he is adorable. I am still learning to color. I would really like to take a class on HIGHLIGHTING and light sources. I just can't get them right. More practice, right?

Card Details:
Stamps and Sentiments: Digital stamps - FROM THE HEART - Birthday Candle
Paper: From my stash, twine
Color - Copics

More to come! Please leave a comment, it makes my day! I would love followers too!

Hugs by Honey Bee - so perfect!

Hello,
When I saw this new die set by Honey Bee - I had to have it! HUGS. I love the versatility of the three layers, the big size of it, and the word itself can be used in birthdays, support, hello to a friend, all sorts of things! LOVE IT!
Take a look:

The background is the Stampin' Up! En Francis background stamp and embossed it, and I used distress ink as watercolor. I hung on to the background for well over a year, not quite sure what do to with it. THEN my new die came in the mail, and POOF! mind blown. Clean and beautiful.
I entered it into a few Challenges:

No blue Challenge

Welcome back!
I wanted to see if I could meet the challenge! I cannot use the color blue! I believe I did it!
Take a look:

I recently purchased a BIG SHOT. My cuttlebug just died. The cutting pads were so warped, and thin, they were not cutting well at all. I was trying to put off the large purchase as long as I could. My husband watched me try to cut a detailed die and struggle with all the small pieces.

He said, "Go order a squisher, you have hundreds of dollars of dies, and no way to use them! Go buy a new squisher!" I bit the bullet and bought one!

When it arrived, I had fun pulling out EVERY embossing die, folder and item I had!  I pulled out some embossing folders that I hadn't used in a while, and the card made itself.

I entered this card into the following challenges:

Happy Birthday!

Welcome back!
I am sad to say that my AWESOME vacation has come to a close. I have to go back to teaching tomorrow. I can't tell you how therapeutic and relaxing all my crafting has been. My husband build me a craft bench. What a world of difference more space makes! Here is my card for today:

I dug out a older wood stamp, and (gulp) pulled it off and used it in my MISTI tool. I love the colors of the oxide inks. I have a hard time with CAS. Hope this qualifies!

Birthday Balloons Stencil and Cards

Welcome Back,
Each new year, I create two dozen birthday cards to mail out to friends and family during the course of the year. I try to get a head start during my Christmas break. This year, I wanted to make a few balloon themed cards, but I have no balloon stamps or stencils. Thought "Bet I can create one with my cricut!" My husband helped me with some of the graphic design using inkscape and corel draw, but I did most of it myself:

I happen to have a pack of 3 blank stencil materials that a friend gave me, and I used two of the with this project. I did large and small balloons.

Using my MISTI tool, and mass produced 8 cards that were very similar in design. I thought they came out pretty cute!  After stamping them all with the same "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" stamp, I realized, I need to purchase some more Birthday sentiment stamps!  LOL

I entered this card into a few challenges:

Stamps: none
Stencil: Handmade - similar to other balloon stencils
Sentiment: SSS essential greetings
Paper: Neenah Solar White, black cardstock, SU cardstock

Sunset Birthday for the new year!

Welcome back,
I am spending so much time in my new-and-improved craft room! I love it! Now it's bragging time! Isn't this beautiful? The embossing is sparkly, the photo doesn't show it.  :(
(cold weather go away)

I am just getting around to playing with my oxide inks. I have labeled them, cataloged them, and even created RBG codes for them (see previous post), but I need to create cards with them! LOL! I always go back to my wild flower sets when I get stumped creatively. I just can't go wrong.

I am adding my card to the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday  - something new

Stamps: wildflowers (Tim Holtz)
Sentiment: SSS essential greetings
Paper: Neenah Solar White, black cardstock, SU cardstock

DIY Card Display Rack - Card Making

Hello,
Welcome back! with my two week break, I have been very busy creating in my beautiful craft room. my husband built me an awesome craft bench, and I have been so creative ever since!

I wanted to share a very simple card display rack I put together quickly. I was tired of ruining cards simply because they touched each other while they dried! I had the room on my desk top, I just needed to make a drying rack!

Originally, I wanted to create the entire rack out of foam core to match my ink pad hold to the left of it. Unfortunately, I ran out of foam core. :( Fortunately, my handy husband had coroplast hanging around in the garage from a job he did. The rack itself is a think poster board I had. They shelves I created from card stock I scored 5 times half an inch apart and folded. then just hot glued on the front of the rack 6 inches apart! How simple is that?

Now I have a place for all my backgrounds, and cards that are not finished! What a simple creation that makes such a huge impact on my creative space!  Enjoy!

RGB Codes for Distress Oxide Inks!

Good morning!
I searched the internet, like I usually do for a new idea I had, that I was sure someone else had thought of first! Low and behold, I could not find it! Let me explain.

I came across Shari Carroll's Distress ink combo sheets that she created for Simon Says Stamp blog. I had miniaturized them, and printed them out a while back. I taped this sheet on my craft wall above my distress inks, and refer to it often. Then I came across Justine's blog where she has some AWESOME distress OXIDE combos that I had to try, so I wrote them down on my combo sheet. Then realized, I wanted to record them as Shari had with the little watercolor circles and the name next to it.

SO.....needless to say, I wanted to add one to Shari's idea, to include all the oxide inks, and then make a combo sheet of my own of my favorite combinations! I wanted to share it with you!

First, I needed all the RBG codes for all the distress Oxide inks. I searched all over the ranger site, but to no avail. Then I searched blogs, and pinterest, and found one hit, but it wasn't quite right. Then I thought, if ranger already chose the colors in their swatches, (which I had in my files) then I can use the eye dropper tool in inkscape, and get the codes myself. With a little elbow grease, and a bunch of patience, I could make them!

I wanted to make the swatches in word so that I could copy and paste them as I needed to make new combos on a separate combo sheet. Take a look:
Here is the word document: click here. I might go forth and create a sheet with all the distress color on it. (I have 24 of them done already) Why not? I'll add to this post if I do. Enjoy!
